Teatro is the new “Hot Spot” in Doha! It’s located in Rotana Hotel near City Center Mall. The restaurant smartly fuses 5 delicious cuisines into its menu (Chinese, Japanese, Indian, Italian and Thai); “where eastern cooking meets western cuisine”.
The design of the restaurant is very impressive and classy with beautiful views. They have a stunning wine cellar as soon as you enter on your right showing you the wine fermentation process. In the corner, they have a beautiful piano set-up played by a very talented singer. The bar has an exiting feel to it with several creative cocktails and beverage options. One of the best parts of the restaurant is the live sushi and sashimi bar; the sushi is made to order by a special Japanese chef.
They also have several cozy looking private dining areas for bigger groups. All the paintings looks fabulous and are apparently custom made for the restaurant. The marketing team and the restaurant staff were very welcoming which made the event very enjoyable. The ambiance being so classy raised my expectation for the food (and they didn’t let me down). The Japanese platter was spot-on, having a mix of sashimi and sushi. Next came the grapefruit shrimp salad topped with pomegranate that had a perfect sweet and sour mix. The chicken wings had an awesome sauce to it, which got us talking about the recent buffalo chicken wings competition being held at Boston’s, chilled out place to grab a bite also located at the City Center Rotana.
The spring rolls were crispy as expected but my favorite dish of the night was the fish; it was well marinated and had an extraordinary taste. They also served their famous lamb rack asparagus, which was overdone to my liking. But wait, it doesn’t stop there!! Then came the Thai green curry that had so much of flavor, one could imagine the bay leaves and spices being slow cooked for hours and hours along with the tender chicken served. The desert on the other hand was “A big beast”; It had so much goodness in it.
The desert platter consisted of Matcha cake, Deep fried banana fritters, Lemongrass crème brulee, Chocolate truffles, Ice cream mochis, Lychee granitas and beautiful berries for garnish. They also served sauvignon blanc and pinot noir to help digest this extravagant 8 course meal. To top that, they even had a sushi making completion where they handed gifts to both the winner & runner-up; they also had a fun “guess the song” game with the amazing pianist that turned into a crazy karaoke of 50 singers by the end of it 😀
We were happy to be on the winning team and we received beautiful Teatro aprons along with a gift voucher to dine at the Boston’s restaurant bar. Most of all, we met a lot of people that night and the social interaction was great. All in all, it was a huge hit for a Grand Opening and the event was very well organized.
Bravo to Rotana and the Teatro Team!
